Description: Butch Deveraux has been working under the watchful eye of Mastersmith Ed Fowler and the influence is readily apparent. Butch is a graduate of Ed's School of High Performing Knives and shows tremendous skill both in implementation and style.
Like Bill Burke and Ed Fowler, each knife is pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The heat treatment follows the formulas developed by Ed Fowler, Bill's teacher, and has been proven to create some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere. This particular blade has been hand forged of 52100 carbon steel. The blade has a deep recurve and strong differential heat treatment lines.
The brass guard makes a nice transition from the blade to the warm tones of the comfortable sheep horn handle. In fact, the large handle feels so natural in the hand, you’ll have a hard time putting it down. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. By including black fiber spacers, Butch allows the handle to easily adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
Excellent fit and finish through
