Description: This frontier skinning knife is an exceptional example of Raymond Richard's work. It has an elegance and timeless sense to it that wouldn't be out of place by the side of an American pioneer, bravely breaking ground in a new land. It captures the spirit of a time gone by - yet has the excellence one expects from a contemporary knifemaker.
The upswept blade is hand forged 5160 carbon steel with an antiqued finish. 5160 is tough, maintains an excellent edge, and is extremely resistant to breakage and chipping, making it a perfect steel for in hard-use knives. The blade is convex ground for strength and durability. Richard's touchmark is engraved into the spine of the knife.
The handle is a downturned section of moose antler. The natural texture of the antler provides a comfortable, non-slip grip without being abrasive. The blade and handle are perfectly fit to a wrought iron guard.
To keep the knife close at hand, a wood sheath wrapped in leather is included.
Excellent work throughout!
