Description: Beginning in 1997, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin started down the path of reshaping the manner in which the survival and wilderness industry carried out business. Having become frustrated with the endless amount of exaggeration and hype often associated with “survival” gear and training, they launched Randall’s Adventure & Training to bring realistic tools and knowledge to the consumer market. Working under contract with the Peruvian Air Force’s “Escuela de Supervivencia en la Selva” (School of Jungle Survival), also known by the acronym ESSEL, they introduced many clients to the art of jungle survival in the vast Peruvian Amazon jungle. After a number of years operating in South America, they relocated their training stateside and launched a sister company to produce high quality field grade knives and gear – ESEE Knives. Today the ESEE brand is known and distributed worldwide. ESEE Knives / Randall’s Adventure & Training clientele range from special operations personnel, rescue technicians, hunters, law enforcement, border security, film crews, outdoorsman and professional adventurers. Their courses and gear have been featured on the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel and in numerous movies, books, leading outdoor magazines and trade publications.
The latest offering from Esee Expat Knives is the Libertariat, designed by John Armstrong as a lightweight tropical survival knife. A lightweight short machete made to carry with you on your hike, coconut gathering or brush clearing adventures without taking up too much space. It also works very well in the kitchen slicing roast beef or large pork shoulders. It is based on the Latin American cacao or coconut knives that are used and abused in food gathering and prep. The new version of the Libertariat is made in the U.S.A.
The cleaver blade is 1095 carbon steel in a rugged black finish. The cutting edge is satin finished. 1095 carbon steel is tough and chip resistant, making it a perfect option for hard use knives. The 90 degree spine is perfect for striking a ferro rod.
The handle is contoured canvas Micarta, secured to the full tang using torx screws. This allows the scales to be removed if rust removal or maintenance is needed. Micarta is extremely durable and does not get slippery when wet. This makes it a perfect handle material for jungle and survival knives. A hole drilled into the end of the tang allows a lanyard to be added for extra retention.
A rugged tan canvas sheath is included to safely carry the knife.
This knife includes a warranty from Esee Knives. Their warranty is pretty simple: if you break it, they will repair or replace it. They will not question the validity of your warranty claim for a broken knife, handles, sheath, clip plate or hardware. Warranty is lifetime and transferable. In other words, they warranty these products no matter how many times they have been traded, sold or given away – no sales receipt or proof of purchase required.
Made in the USA.
