Description: This is a classic Drop Point Hunter from Journeymansmith Erik Fritz. Erik specialized in forged bowies, hunters, and small EDC knives. Being from Montana, he has worked with some of the best bladesmiths around such as Mastersmiths Bill Burke, Wade Colter, and Shane Taylor.
The drop point blade is hand forged 5160 carbon steel. The blade features a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. A differential heat treatment line can be seen separating the ultra-hard cutting edge from the softer, resilient spine. The blade has flat ground nice, even grinds. Erik's touchmark is on the left side.
The handle is contoured from osage orange wood. Osage orange (Maclura pomifera) wood features a straight grain with a bright golden hue. Osage orange is extremely durable and is considered to be one of the most decay resistant woods in North America. The handle is nicely fit to a satin finished stainless steel guard.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style leather custom sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
