Description: Cedric Pannel was a South African knifemaker and an active member of the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa. He took up knifemaking after retiring from SA Railways in 1991. At the time, he was the oldest active member of the Knifemakers Guild. Regrettably, Cedric passed away in June of 2017. Although his work is rarely seen in the United States, his work has made its way into collections throughout the world. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of knifemaking with many other South African knifemakers striving to make a name for themselves such as Deon Nel, Japie Visser, and Jonny Kable. Cedric's work is very clean and will make an excellent addition to any collection, yet would be just as comfortable on your belt out in the field. This knife has been in a private collection since it was made in 2013. It has been meticulously cared for and by all appearances, Cedric could have made it yesterday.
Knife designs by Bob Loveless are legendary in the custom knife industry. The performance and reliability of Loveless' patterns set them apart. They continue to inspire a wide range of makers and Bob is regularly cited by other knifemakers and collectors as one of the most innovative and influential custom knifemakers in the world.
This Loveless Style Hideout features a mirror polished 440C stainless steel blade. It was hollow ground by hand for an easy to maintain edge. The maker mark is featured on the left side of the blade.
Handle scales are African blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon) secured to the distal tapered full tang. The scales are secured using Corby rivets and meet perfectly with 304 stainless steel bolsters.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style sheath made from cape buffalo leather is included.
Nice work throughout!
