I started making knives in 1991 in search of a better cutting tool. I've been an outdoors person most of my life and have been interested in fishing, hunting, and camping since I was a young boy. Through the many years of my adventures, I've handled and used countless numbers of different knives for cleaning fish to dressing game. I've always been fascinated with the art of taking a piece of high carbon steel and turning it into a beautiful, high quality knife that would out-perform any that I had ever used.

Because of the demands of being a construction foreman, along with the time needed at home to raise our son and do the chores around the homestead, my quest to undertake a life long dream had to be put on hold.  In 1990 and 1991, I lost both my parents and had a change in attitude. I realized that life is too short to keep putting dreams off and started my new adventure. I was determined to make a good, useful knife of my own. I worked on my first knife using a bench grinder, hacksaw and hand files. It wasn't much to look at, but I was proud of what I had created and couldn't wait to start another.

My tools and knowledge have come a long way since making that first knife, but the heart, soul and dedication has stayed the same. In 1999, I was fortunate enough to become a full time maker.

I do my own work, from forging the blades to the last stitch on the sheath. I do all my own heat treating and make all my own Damascus. When you purchase one of my knives, you're getting a high quality knife made with years of experience and pride.

I passed the ABS Journeyman Smith performance test in August 2006. Mastersmith Hank Knickmeyer supervised the testing. The knife performed and passed each test perfectly. I forged the knife from 52100 - 1 1/2" round stock. In June 2007, after submitting five knives to be judged by the masters on fit, finish, and artistry, I earned my Journeyman Smith stamp at the Blade Show in Atlanta. I was honored to pass the ABS Mastersmith Test in June of 2010.
